MMIP Helps You to Get Insurance for Old Car in Malaysia

Facing difficulty to obtain third party old car insurance? If you are unable to get insurance coverage for your old vehicle from individual insurance companies, you may get coverage from the Malaysia Motor Insurance Pool (MMIP).

It is a pool contributed by all general insurance companies in the country; all the cost and expenses of MMIP will be shared among of them. Where to buy MMIP? There are three appointed companies:

  • Multi-Purpose Insurance Berhad
  • Uni.Asia General Insurance Berhad
  • Pos Malaysia Berhad
Why Higher Premium to Renew/Buy MMIP at Pos Malaysia?

Don’t Lost Your Old Car, Third Party Insurance Don’t Cover It

My friend’s car was stolen recently. The sad thing was, none of insurance company willing to issue first party insurance (or comprehensive cover) for her really old car since for the past few years back.

At the end, she lost her car and nothing can be claimed because third party insurance does not cover loss or damage to your own vehicle due to accidental fire, theft or an accident.

Has anyone renewed their 3rd party car insurance MMIP at the POS Malaysia outlets? Any requirements like asking for latest car inspection report or just bring the previous car registration and expiring cover letter and just pay the premium?

I also having similar problem to renew my insurance for my 14 yrs old Proton.

Finally i have to pay about additional few hundred include some forced PA policy and loading/rider for OLD car)

I think Government / Insurance companies have this kind of policy is to boost the local car sales
