Which credit card is the best for you to watch cheapest or even FREE movie at cinema? Hong Leong MTV Credit Card? GSC-EON Bank Credit Card? Citibank Clear Credit Card?
Credit Cards Comparison

Hong Leong MTV Credit Card [Cathay Cineplex Cinemas]
- Spend RM50 and above get 1 FREE movie ticket
- Each MTV Credit Cardholder gets maximum 2 FREE ticket redemption per day
- FREE movie ticket redemption is on first-come-first-serve basic and limited to 100 per week (nationwide)
- Every Saturday is considered Day 1 of the week until Friday (day 7) for redemption
For full terms and conditions, please log on Hong Leong Bank
My 2cents point of view: This is a good credit card for cinema lovers, no doubt! Hong Leong is giving out FREE movie ticket for their MTV credit card holders as long as you did some purchases using the card. But, I will only go for Hong Leong MTV Credit Card if I’m staying near to Cathay Cineplex cinema and do not mind to wake up early in Saturday morning to get ready to queue up for the limited FREE movie ticket redemption. Else, all the FREE tickets will be grabbed within 2 hours as per friend’s experience. Since it’s FREE, some flexibility has to be scarified.

GSC-EON Bank Credit Card [Golden Screen Cinemas, GSC]
- Enjoy up to 10% discount on normal movie ticket (Read it carefully, they use the word ‘up to’, 10% discounts only happen when you purchase RM50 and above)
- Purchase GSC movie tickets faster and hassle free through Priority Ticketing Lane (available at selected GSC outlets only)
- Enjoy 10% discounts on refreshments for the first 3 months (only). Subsequently, get 5% discounts
- Platinum Cardholders will be entitled for RM100 and RM 60 for Gold Cardholders worth of Bonus Value. The Bonus Value can be used to pay off up to 50% of your movie ticket purchases
For full terms and conditions, please log on Golden Screen Cinemas
My 2cents point of view: GSC-EON Bank Credit Card is just a ‘better than nothing’ credit card for those who go for cinema frequently. First of all, anyone reading here was attracted by the ‘up to 10%’ discount? Secondly, the discount rates for refreshments are just too ‘stingy’! Lastly, what do you think on the Bonus Value system? So many T&C applied. Anyway, I will still go for this credit card if GSC is the only cinema within the area I’m staying. ‘Better than Nothing’ right?!

Citibank Clear Credit Card [Cathay Cineplex Cinemas]
- Valid till 31 December 2009 (extended from 31 December 2008)
- Each Citibank Clear Credit Card gets maximum 2 movie ticket priced at RM6/ticket per day at any day any time any movie
- Optional combo set (Popcorn + Drinks) at special price RM2/set. Maximum 2 sets per day
For full terms and conditions, please log on Citibank
My 2cents point of view: I like the way of how Citibank rewards their Citibank Clear cardholders! It’s a straight forward rewards, buy the special price movie ticket for any movie (includes new launch movie), anytime (am to pm), any day (weekday or weekend or public holiday). Besides, the popcorn combo set is priced at RM2/set only! Well, the only reason I will not go for the card is there are no Cathay Cineplex Cinema within my area.
I will vote Citibank Clear Credit Card as the best credit card to watch cinema movie at cheapest rates based on my own needs and wants. What about yours?

I prefer GSC cinema. But I don’t like the EON Bank T&C.
GSC card offer RM 100 or RM 60 for Platinum or Gold card respectively. There is no capping of maximum 100 per week like Hong Leong card ( which Horlic’s fren has to queue & tickets snap off within 2 hours ). =) … The Bonus value is safely kept in the card & can use the GSC card at your leisure, No Queue, No Rush, & Easy accessibility coz GSC is everywhere. =)
Same here, cant accept the EON Bank T&C. Prefer straight forward rewards!
