American Express Gold Credit Card is For Credit Card Slave!

I was attracted by Maybank American Express Gold Credit Card’s advertisement on their 8x rewards point and 0% Finance Charge! Besides, American Express Gold Credit Card is the first in Malaysia to offer the lowest interest rate of 9% per annum when credit card users make prompt minimum payments instead of normal charges of 16% per annum. Sound great right!

After read more details about the features of the credit card, I found out it’s actually mainly for CREDIT CARD SLAVE! The 9% so called lowest interest rate in Malaysia even 0% during promotion period is not for good payment paymaster credit card user like me. I always make full payment for my credit card’s monthly payment bill. So, the major selling point of the credit card is no longer my consideration.

8x rewards point is a great promotion! But it’s just a short period promotion valid from 15 April till 15 July 2009. So, it should not be the solid reason to convince us to apply for the latest American Express Gold Credit Card. Again, I really don’t buy the idea of ‘Promotion is valid from xxx till xxx’! Do you keep changing your credit card and willing to look for different banks frequently to make the monthly payment at different places? And all these hassles are just to enjoy the short period promotion? (Assume you don’t buy the idea of e-payment via online, because the fact is, there are still many people make their payment at bank)

• Membership Rewards: Earn 2x Membership Rewards points for every Ringgit spend elsewhere

P.S: The others features are just normal and nothing special as what you can get from most of the others credit cards.

Bonus Points Credit Card or Cash Rebate Credit Card?

Conclusion, if you prefer a credit card rewarding in bonus points rather than a cash rebate credit card, perhaps Maybank American Express Gold Credit Card is a good choice for you!
